When did your love of STEM begin?

My love for STEM began when I was in school. I loved learning and understanding how things work. Always fascinated by my chemistry labs and the composition of chemical to listening to a Walkman and wanting to understand how placing a disc inside this device brought music in my headphone. The curiosity was the start of my love for STEM and developed into a career choice by my older brother who is also an engineer. He encouraged me to go into the path of engineering and guides me to this day with my career choices.

What is the best part about working in the field of STEM?

The best part about working in the field of STEM is problem solving. I love constantly being challenged and learning new things and being in the STEM field with everything constantly evolving, you are always learning! My current role requires a lot of problem solving and seeing that there are multiple solutions to the same problem and trying to guide other engineers into understand the benefits of each solution so they make an informed decision. It's a cycle of learning and teaching which I really enjoy.

What advice would you give young women interested in a career in STEM?

Get Involved! You will never know if you like or don't like something until you try it. Expose yourself to as many opportunities as you can because that will help you learn more about your own interests and sometimes create a spark for a new interest you didn't even think of.
