When did your love of STEM begin?: I've always been interested in the natural surroundings in which I grew up. Woods, fields, and ocean were all around us. I also have three older siblings who pursued science in their careers. I think that helped me to finalize my education choices.

What is the best part about working in the field of STEM?: I get to teach a strong group of future scientists about industrial bioprocesses, biochemistry, analytical instrumentation, etc. Our program often attracts more women to the classroom.

What advice would you give young women interested in a career in STEM?: Get ready to prove yourself, and then prove yourself. The unfortunate biases still exist around women in the workplace, especially in science professions. Own your space.
