When did your love of STEM begin?
It all started one day at the library. I was scanning the rows and rows of books, running my hand along the spines, when a compelling force caused me to pause at one particularly large, colourful book with a castle and a mouse on the cover - Walt Disney Imagineering: A Behind the Dreams Look at Making the Magic Real. As I flipped through the pages of architectural drawings, maps and plans of Walt’s vision for Disneyland, I was fascinated by the combination of technology and art and knew I had to find out more.
What is the best part about working in the field of STEM?
STEM opens up so many doors, as it is the backbone of so many industries, and not just those you would traditionally think of.
What advice would you give young women interested in a career in STEM?
Be open to trying new things and be comfortable with being uncomfortable. By seeing what is out there, you can find what field draws you in. Just go for it, and follow where your gut tells you to go.
Tell us a fun fact about you and your current role!
I get to design immersive and interactive experiences by day AND write children’s book by night!
